I met a farmer who had toiled many decades on his farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. As pieces of equipment were replaced, he would park the older one on his property on the side of the road. There were probably over one hundred pieces there. I photographed them many times in many different seasons. He told me the equipment, when parked, was still running, still usable. This was many years ago. I doubt the equipment is still there.
